FAQ

Everything you need to know before you visit.

Before You Book

What's included in The Damside Experience?

A 45-minute guided visit with Axel and Dusty — introductions, brushing, photos, and the story of the breed and the property, led personally by Jason or Larissa. $150 covers up to two guests; additional guests are $25 each, with a maximum of four guests per experience.

Can I book this as a gift?

Not as a formal gift voucher yet — that's coming. For now, the easiest way is to book the date yourself and let the recipient know, or email us at hello@damsidehighlands.com.au and we'll help you arrange something for a birthday, anniversary, or proposal.

Is this suitable for young children?

The Damside Experience works best for children who are old enough to follow instructions calmly around large animals.

Getting Here

Why isn't your address published on the website?

Damside Highlands is a small, private property, not a public attraction — we don't take walk-ins. Once your booking and payment are confirmed, we'll send you the full address, directions, and everything else you need to arrive with confidence.

What will I receive before my visit?

A confirmation email with the property address and directions.

What to Expect

What should I wear?

Enclosed footwear and weather-appropriate clothing. The Damside Experience takes place outdoors, on grass and occasionally uneven ground.

Is the property accessible for visitors with limited mobility?

The Damside Experience is held outdoors on our farm, where the ground is naturally uneven in places. If you have any mobility or accessibility concerns, please get in touch with us at hello@damsidehighlands.com.au before your visit. We'd be more than happy to talk through what to expect and help you decide if the experience is the right fit for you.

What happens if it rains?

Most of the time, we go ahead — this is a genuine outdoor, rural experience. If weather turns severe enough to affect your safety or the Highlands' wellbeing, we'll be in touch to offer a full refund or a new date.

Can I bring my dog?

As much as we understand the temptation, we ask that you leave your dog at home. Cattle and unfamiliar dogs don't always mix well, and we want both your pet and our Highlands to stay calm and safe.

Policies

What's your cancellation policy?

We understand that plans can sometimes change.

If you need to cancel or reschedule your booking, please let us know more than 24 hours before your scheduled experience. We'll happily provide you with either a full refund or the opportunity to reschedule your visit to another available date.

Unfortunately, cancellations made within 24 hours of your scheduled experience are non-refundable.

Do I need to sign a waiver?

Yes. It's completed online before your visit, as part of your booking confirmation — no paperwork on the day.

About the Animals

Are Axel and Dusty friendly?

Yes — they're handled regularly and are genuinely comfortable around people. They're not trained to expect food from visitors, which keeps them calm and well-adjusted rather than pushy. Curious about the breed itself? Discover Highlands →
